No crew detained at London, Frankfurt: AI

The national air-carrier was responding to a media report which said that its crew-members had been detained at Frankfurt and London airports in the last fortnight for shoplifting and burglary
Air India on Tuesday termed as “incorrect” that 45 of its crew were detained allegedly for shoplifting in Frankfurt and 15 more subsequently at London for burglary. “The two alleged instances of 45 Air India crew members having been detained for shop-lifting at Frankfurt and another set of (15) crew being subsequently detained in London are incorrect," Air India said in a press release.
The national air-carrier was responding to a media report which said that its crew-members had been detained at Frankfurt and London airports in the last fortnight for shoplifting and burglary. The incident of crew-members being detained for shoplifting at Frankfurt international airport "is factually incorrect,” the release said.
Giving details of the incident, Air India claimed that an airhostess was fined not for shoplifting but for having accidentally broken a bottle of perfume in a duty free shop.
The airhostess was asked to pay for the perfume but as she did not have the money, she had given an undertaking to make the payment later.
