GoAir to add four aircraft by June ’09

Bangalore: Jeh Wadia-owned budget carrier GoAir, which had consciously kept away from aggressively expanding its fleet, is planning to induct four more aircraft by June 2009.
The airline currently has a fleet of six aircraft.
But even as it will add planes, it will return some of the aircraft during the current fiscal so that its fleet will expand to eight by June 2009.
“We will redeliver our aircraft in operational lease, bringing the total number of aircraft in fleet by June 2009 at the level of eight, with an average age (being all brand new deliveries), at that time, of approximately 7 months!,” said Edgardo Badiali, CEO GoAir.
Over the next 2-3 months, the no-frill airline will induct 1-2 aircraft and add routes accordingly, he said.
Badiali also said that the airline was looking at getting into alliances with foreign carriers to improve its services.
