New Delhi: When the news of terrorists striking at Delhi International Airport came out yesterday around 2 am, apart from security officials, there was another group of people who were busy.
The call centre of the DIAL (Delhi International Airport Limited) received a large number of calls, especially from foreign countries.
An official in the call centre said the frequency of the calls was four times higher than the normal calls.
“On an average, we receive 25 calls in an hour from abroad but yesterday after this news was flashed on TV channels all over the world, we received around 100 calls per hour and it went on till 9 in the morning till the situation came under control,” said an official.
After 36 hours of police investigations, senior officials said nothing has emerged so far to prove there was a firing at the airport yesterday or any Qualis came to the airport. Delhi Police officials also said no witness to the incident has come forward yet who has seen anyone firing. CISF officials were however reiterated that they heard gunshots and they are not buying Delhi Police theory. Delhi Police however still making efforts to look for said Qualis. Every corner of the airport has also been checked to look for empty bullet shells but nothing has been found.
