AAI asked to improve passenger facilities at Dimapur airport

Kohima: Taking note of complaints from air travellers, the Dimapur district administration has asked the Airports Authority of India (AAI) to improve passenger amenities at the Dimapur airport, the lone town connected by air in Nagaland.
Deputy Commissioner Maongwati, in a letter to the regional executive director of AAI at the Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, Guwahati, cited complaints such as uncomfortable passenger seats inside the terminal, shortage of trolleys and lack of transport from the town to the airport.
He also said that the airport did not have an air conditioned hall, bookstall and a restaurant which were required in an airport.
The DC said passengers also sought to know through RTI why such minimum requirements were not met by the state&aposs only airport.
Describing the issue as very serious, he urged AAI to immediately take up the matter.
Meanwhile, the railway authorities have informed that the passenger reservation system (PRS) building at Dimapur, which was completed a year ago, would be opened on Monday by Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav through video conferencing from Katihar in Bihar.
