Paramount Airways plans to enter flight catering and cargo business

Mumbai: Paramount Airways has plans to set up a flight catering business as well as a launch a cargo division. According to M Thiagarajan, Managing Director, Paramount Airways, the flight catering business and the cargo division will be based out of the South. The cargo division will focus on high-end cargo packages. Also this year the airline, which has diversified in the Western region with operations in Goa, Pune and Ahmedabad, now plans to further expand its network to every business city in the West including Mumbai, Nagpur, Baroda, Bhuj, Porbunder and many more.
Talking to TravelBiz Monitor, Thiagarajan said, “We have been slow and steady in our growth and the same philosophy will be adopted for new markets this year. After having saturated and dominated our position in the South, we will now expand our presence in the West followed by the North. Our target is clear, to cover the entire Western region by year-end and North by the end of 2010.”
The airline has also introduced many unique offerings for its passengers such as its business lounges, valet services and varied cuisine offerings. This year the airline will also focus on the online medium as it is a key sector for the airline. “Our online bookings amount to 80 per cent, while GDS bookings are merely 20 per cent. We also encourage our travel agents to book online as it is a faster medium. We also work closely with a lot of OTAs and corporates. Our focus is also not just the big corporates but also the SMEs who are potential clients,” added Thiagarajan.
