Mumbai: A 64-year-old woman on board an Air India flight to Aurangabad died in midair.
The flight, AI 3438 from Jeddah to Aurangabad, was diverted to Mumbai late on Wednesday night as soon as Sadaf-nisa Farull Rehman, who was travelling with a relative, complained of acute chest pain. The plane landed at Bay 65 of Mumbai airport and immediately a doctor was summoned.
"The doctor received a call at 11.40 pm from an Air India official to attend to the passenger on Bay 65. He reached the spot at 11.50 pm,'' said a Mumbai International Airport Pvt Ltd (MIAL) spokesperson.
"The patient was motionless and the doctor could not find either her pulse or her heartbeat. Her pupils were dilated and the body was cold,'' he added. Rehman was declared dead on the spot.
