Patna: One R K Bhakar, booked on the Jet Airways Patna-Delhi flight on Thursday evening, died following a heart attack.
Bhakar had already checked in and was waiting to board the flight when the unfortunate incident took place. Airports Authority of India (AAI) sources said once a passenger has checked in, he/she becomes the responsibility of the airlines concerned and AAI just provides support.
In Bhakar's case, claimed the sources, AAI provided the fire service ambulance on humanitarian ground but the passenger could not survive though he was taken to the nearest hospital. Incidentally, none from the Jet Airways office was willing to speak when TOI tried to find out the passenger's details.
Expressing shock, a co-passenger told TOI on Friday that lack of medical facilities at the city airport should be looked into and AAI should take steps to ensure timely medical help in cases of emergency.
