Civil Aviation Min reissues ad for posts of AERA chief,members

New Delhi : The process of selecting the head and two members of the Airports Economic Regulatory Authority (AERA) got a fillip today with the Civil Aviation Ministry re-issuing an advertisement for the posts including a cap on the age limit.
The advertisement, which was earlier put up only on the ministry website, was re-issued with the age limit being capped at 62 years for the AERA Chairman and 59 for the two members of the regulatory body, official sources said.
The ministry has to meet the deadline of March 31 for constituting the AERA as per the gazette notification issued late last year, the sources said, adding that efforts were being made to complete the process within this period. The selected candidates would hold the posts for a period of five years or not more than 65 years as Chairman and 62 years as a Member.
Several senior, present and former, officials are in fray for the three posts. Those understood to be in the race include Air India CMD Raghu Menon, former CMD V Thulasidas, former Airports Authority of India Chairman K Ramalingam, V Subramanian, Secretary in the government who had earlier served the Civil Aviation Ministry, and Consumer Affairs Secretary Yashwant Bhave.
