New Delhi: Unveiling the summer schedule for Kuwait-based Jazeera Airways in India, Steven Greenway, Chief Commercial Officer (CCO), Jazeera Airways informed that the airline will maintain the status quo with regard to frequency in the Indian market in the summer months. He also stated that the company will ponder for partnership with domestic Low Cost-Carriers (LCCs) in the Indian market to feed the airline’s operations from Delhi, Mumbai and Kochi. “We are looking at code-sharing with domestic players here to feed our operations, as we cannot reach out to all the destinations in India on our own,” opined Greenway. He added that by partnership the company will be looking at ‘deep partnerships’ whereby the partner company can also benefit through cross-selling, etc.
When asked about the new routes on the airline’s radar, Greenway said that destinations in North Africa and the Indian sub-continent would be looked into. He expressed the confidence that the airline would be able to offer more competitive and cheaper rates to the clients as capacity will be added in the next few years. While explaining the way things have changed in the last six months, he opined that it is a difficult market. He further stated that the company wanted to wait and watch how things unfold in the next six months. “We expect lot of acquisitions and mergers in the market in the next six months. There will also be lot of withdrawals in terms of capacity,” stated Greenway. According to him there is an opportunity for airlines like Jazeera Airways to pitch in when the market settles down in the coming months. Commenting on the Indian market specifically, he said that India can get out of the present crisis ‘if they play their cards well’.
