Kochi airport on alert after threat call

Kochi's airport is on high alert after the office of Saudi Airways received an anonymous call today (February 21) alleging that bombs have been placed at the Nedumbassery Airport threatening it to go off at any time. The call was a out be a hoax, airport authorities claimed.
Following the threat, security has been beefed up at Kochi airport. Elaborate screening of all passengers inside the airport is on and vehicles being thoroughly checked.
Kochi Airport Director said that the threat was believed to be a hoax call, but the airport authorities are taking no chances.
