Mumbai: Low Cost Carrier (LCC) United Airways (BD) Limited, which started operation on Kolkata-Chittagong and Kolkata-Dhaka route last year, is now looking at enhancing its network in the Indian market. The airline is looking at connecting Indian cities with Bangladesh and offering one-stop services to Bahrain, Kuala Lumpur, Dubai and Bangkok. The airline is currently operating seven flights a week in and out of Kolkata and is planning to increase the operations by March this year.
Talking about plans for Indian operations, Jamie Khalidi, Vice President (Marketing) – India and Middle East, United Airways said, “We are going to operate 12 flights a week in and out of Kolkata from March this year. Apart from additional flights to Kolkata, we are also looking at starting operations to Mumbai from October this year. To enhance the Indian operations and have more connectivity, we are looking at having code-share agreements with an India-based carrier.” According to Khalidi, the airline is receiving about 75-80 per cent passenger load on Kolkata flights.
Headquartered in UK, the airline serves the domestic market of Bangladesh. In Bangladesh, it operates out of seven cities and internationally operates to India (Kolkata).
