Aviation turmoil: IBS taps domestic market

Thiruvananthapuram: At a time when the global aviation sector is facing turbulent times, travel, transportation and logistics major IBS Software Services based at the Technopark here, has discovered an attractive market – the domestic aviation sector.
Company officials told ET that against the backdrop of a significant fall in business travel and cargo movements, cutting costs through technology had become a catchword for the Indian aviation sector.
“Our solutions give airlines viable options to liberate themselves from the expensive legacy systems that they have been using over the last 40 years” says V.K. Mathews chairman and CEO of IBS. According to him, airlines everywhere had realized this and were opting for new generation technologies to manage their mission critical operations that would reduce their operating costs while optimizing efficiency.
With its new focus on the Indian airline industry, IBS first roped in Jet Airways and over the past year has added three more customers, namely Kingfisher and Spicejet.
