Air Works signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Kingfisher Airlines - one of India's largest airline, for maintenance of its ATR 72 aircrafts. Under this agreement, Air Works will perform 'C Checks' on Kingfisher ATRs at its MRO facility in Hosur, near Bangalore.With this partnership, Air Works becomes the first Indian MRO to do third party Airline Maintenance.
The first Aircraft arrived in Hosur on 15 April, 2009 and went for scheduled maintenance. Announcing the agreement, Fredrik Groth, Chief Executive Officer, Air
Works said, "We are very pleased to partner with Kingfisher - one of India's largest airline for maintenance of its ATR aircrafts. Our partnership comes at a right time when we are promoting India as a future hub of MRO operations. In this scenario, our
partnership symbolizes a shift in the perception of domestic airlines to join hands with Indian MROs. With over 50 years of experience in MRO, Air Works has always been one of the most trusted names in aircraft maintenance and repair business in India.
Our agreement with Kingfisher will enable us to deliver even better service and boost the Airline MRO business."
Air Works is expected to receive approval for Boeing 737 heavy maintenance as accorded by DGCA. Air Works Airline MRO has also completed the EASA (European Aviation Safety Agency) approval requirements and is awaiting audit of the facility
by May 2009.
Air Works aims to strengthen its leadership position and provide Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) services to support the growth of commercial aviation in India.
