Airlines announce fare cuts to woo passengers

Mumbai: With the start of peak summer travel season, domestic airlines are wooing passengers with special fares and deals.
SpiceJet Ltd, Jet Airways (India) Ltd, JetLite (India) Ltd, GoAirlines (India) Pvt Ltd and Air India have all announced various fare cuts and packages in an attempt to make the most of a lean economic scenario.
Delhi-based low-fare carrier SpiceJet on Tuesday announced a Rs500 discount per person making return bookings. Tickets for this offer are for all sectors and bookings can be done up to October 25, 2009.
GoAir, which is operated by the Wadia group, announced basic fares starting at Re 0 and Rs 95 for the summer season, excluding surcharges and taxes.
Low fare airline JetLite also announced return fares in line with SpiceJet on 24 domestic sectors starting at Rs 4,170, when booked 10 days in advance. The offer is effective 22 April. The fares include all charges except airport development fee, user development fee and passenger service fee.
Full service carrier Jet Airways also announced special all-inclusive returns fares on select domestic routes starting at Rs2,279. On Monday, National Aviation Co of India Ltd or Nacil, that runs Air India, on 17 April introduced its Advance Purchase Excursion (APEX) fares on 35 select domestic sectors. Passengers can book the tickets 10 days in advance for Rs2,694 and 20 days in advance for Rs2,494.
