Plane lands late, snag jams its doors

New Delhi: Passengers of a Chennai-Delhi Air India (IC) flight had to spend a good 20 minutes in the aircraft after they had parked in the bay even after their flight was delayed by over an hour due to rough weather over Delhi.
According to a passenger, IC 539 that was supposed to land in Delhi at 8.45pm, hovered over the capital for over an hour due to poor weather and when it landed, the pilot announced that the doors could not be opened due to a "power problem".
"The flight had already been delayed by an hour and passengers were getting agitated since they could not even use the washroom as the seatebelt signs were on," said a passenger.
"The aircraft was initially meant to be parked near the Terminal 1D, which is where the ground power unit (GPU) had been positioned. However, due to maintenance problem, these base were cordoned off and the aircraft was moved to another bay. The delay of 20 minutes was the time it took to shift the GPU from one bay to the other", the official added.
