Mumbai: The elections may be over, but the power struggle between Shiv Sena and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) for one upmanship still continues. The unions of both the parties on Monday proved this fact when they met the Airport Authority of India (AAI) management and sought stay on the transfer of 2,500 employees out of Mumbai airport till June 15.
Vinayak Raut of Bharatiya Kamgaar Sena, the union outfit of Sena and Nitin Sardesai of Hawai Karmachari Sena, of MNS met AAI executive director RC Chitkara.Sena leaders Anand Rao Adsul and Vinayak Raut met Chitkara first followed by a separate session by Sardesai."The AAI director gave us in writing that they will try to solve the employee transfer issue by June 15 and till then no one will be transferred," said Raut. However, Sardesai claimed that unlike Sena, the MNS intend to find a permanent solution to the problem."Some 300 employees had approached our chief Raj Thackeray three days back to stop the transfers. So, when we met AAI, they promised a meeting with aviation ministry officials within two days on the issue. Our demand is that these employees should be adjusted here only," said Sardesai.
