Slew of freebies to woo air passengers

Kolkata: Flights have become cheaper and airlines are reintroducing promotional fares and schemes discontinued in the recent past to woo passengers in the summer lean season.
In the international sector, if two adults buy Emirates Airlines tickets for Dubai, they will get a free ticket for a child aged under 16.
Singapore Airlines has introduced low-cost tickets as well. Passengers can now buy a ticket to Singapore for Rs 11,000, for China at Rs 22,000 and for Perth at Rs 25,000. A ticket to the US comes at Rs 45,000.
In the domestic sector, Air India has re-introduced Apex fares. To avail of these fares, passengers need to book tickets in advance. There are two slabs Rs 2,694 for tickets booked 10 days in advance, and Rs 2,494 for bookings done 20 days in advance for Guwahati, Agartala and Jorhat.
AI has also introduced summer specials (tickets purchased before 30 days) where passengers need to pay only Rs 2,901 for Chennai, Bangalore, Mumbai and Jaipur. Passengers travelling to Hyderabad, Delhi and Port Blair will have to pay Rs 2,611. Destinations like Guwahati, Agartla and Bagdogra will cost Rs 1,891.
JetLite, Jet Airways' low-cost airline, has also slashed fares on 24 domestic sectors. The return fare at Rs 4,170 excludes airport development fee/user development fee and passenger service fee.
SpiceJet, too, has introduced special return fares, where passengers can save up to Rs 500 on return tickets if they buy on the Internet.
While the Kingfisher-Deccan combine has not introduced such schemes, it is also tinkering with fares.
