Srinagar Intl Airport without praying space

Srinagar: Srinagar International Airport terminal is without a Mosque forcing the passengers to offer prayers in busy corridors and lobbies.
Due to non-availability of praying space inside the terminal, passengers who frequently travel by air have to face lot of inconvenience for offering prayers.
“We have to offer nimaz either in terminal lobby or in the corridors. We have to offer prayers amidst noise and frequent announcements which distracts attention of a person offering prayers,” Altaf Ahmad, a passenger who had recently travelled to Dubai told Rising Kashmir.
Another passenger Nazir Ahmad said, “Apart from the inconvenience caused to men, women too cannot offer Nimaz due to lack of praying space and they often have to offer kaza.”
The passengers said the airport is in dire need of a separate praying space.
They said after becoming international airport, it is bound to serve pilgrims travelling to Middle East.
“Now as the Hajj flights and flights to Middle East are being operated from the airport, the need for a Mosque is felt more strongly,” the passengers said.
On their way to perform Hajj, the pilgrims have to face hardships for want of a Mosque.
Referring to the set up of international airports across the world, the passengers said in Middle East and some western countries separate praying spaces are marked inside the terminal so that passengers don’t face any problem in offering prayers.
