Mumbai: The crime branch, investigating the Anil Ambani chopper sabotage case, has reportedly identified a suspended Air Works employee and a serving staffer to be involved in the incident.
Sources said the two suspects were picked up from their residences early Sunday morning and detained at the Bandra lock-up.
On April 24, Air Works, a maintenance firm, had reported to the police about pebbles and gravel being found in the fuel tank of the chopper.
Sources said the needle of suspicion pointed to the serving staffer as he was one of the last persons to attend to the aircraft. They said the other suspect was a suspended employee against whom a departmental inquiry was pending and who was believed to have hatched a conspiracy to settle scores with the management.
On Sunday, at least eight persons, including three former staffers, were questioned by the crime branch till late in the evening.
Joint commissioner of police (crime) Rakesh Maria said they had questioned around 50 Air Works employees in the last two days.
Sources said the police believed that the chopper sabotage was a fallout of an ongoing tiff between the Air Works management and non-technical staff union.
