Clean chit for Jet pilots in near-miss

Mumbai: Two Air India pilots and an air traffic controller of the Mumbai airport have been taken off the roster following Sunday's near-miss incident in which an Air India plane and a Jet Airways aircraft sped simultaneously for a take-off on different runways. The pilots of both planes, which were together carrying 239 passengers, aborted take-off before reaching the intersection of the cross-runways.
The Jet Airways pilots have been given a clean chit after a preliminary investigation revealed that they had been given clearance, a source said.
"Data collected by the director general of civil aviation (DGCA) team from the aircraft's cockpit voice recorders and flight data recorders have been sent to Delhi for further investigations,'' said a source. The team also interrogated the AI pilots and the controller and sent those inputs as well.
