Kochi: CARe-Keralam, the confederation of Ayurvedic Rennaissance Keralam ltd, has received in principle clearance from the Cochin International Airport Ltd to grow herbal plants in about an 100 acre area in the airport.
CIAL board has given in principle approval to the project, the first such in India and an MOU is expected to be signed soon, Chief Executive Officer of CARe Keralam, Dr T Joy Verghese, told PTI.
CARe-Keralam, a joint venture between the Centre, Kerala government and Ayurvedic Industries, will identify an agency for cultivation of herbal plants. Once the yield is ready, CARe- Keralam would purchase it and distribute it to Ayurveda industries. The growers can form clusters for the cultivation,he said.
