Canada Border Services Agency says one person was arrested after officers intercepted a shipment of heroin at Vancouver International Airport.
The agency confirms nearly five kilograms of the drug was found May 14 during an inspection of shock absorbers arriving from India.
CBSA spokeswoman Shakila Manzoor says the package of five large shock absorbers raised numerous red flags, so several high tech methods, including x-rays and ion scans, were used to check the items.
She says officers determined the tractor parts had been drilled and filled with heroin.
The shock absorbers arrived at the VIA-Air Cargo centre and officers attempted a controlled delivery of the goods but, when that was unsuccessful, RCMP arrested the suspected importer at his home.
