Mumbai: Jet Airways' newly formed Pilots' Union, the National Aviators Guild has now taken up the cause of two of its founder members that were fired by the airline a few days ago.
This is one fresh problem that Naresh Goyal did not need. After the late night drama of firing and rehiring employees, Goyal is now faced with an offensive and posturing pilots' guild.
Capt Girish Kaushik, president of the National Aviators Guild, said, “Our two pilots have been removed. This is what we do not even do to our labourers and this the airline has done to the backbone of the airline—the pilots."
Well, Jet's management chooses to ignore the Guild, and why not? A legal union will push for the rights of the pilots, which is unacceptable in the current environment.
The Guild has given to the management a week's time to react after which they will take an industrial action as opposed to a strike. But a union breathing down Jet's throat is what the management does not want. However, the first test of the new Guild will be to get the sacked pilots reinstated.
