Screening at Lohegaon airport tightened

Pune: Following the death of a 14-year-old girl due to swine flu, the screening process at the Lohegaon airport has been tightened as a team of doctors checks all passengers alighting from international flights in the city every day.
From temperature checks to redness of throat and even filling up mandatory medical forms, a team of central and state government doctors is stationed here every night to see that every passenger is screened thoroughly.
Passengers arriving at the airport from Dubai on Wednesday night were first moved to the screening area located at the entrance.
Pratap Waghmare, the doctor appointed by the state health ministry said, "As soon as the passengers arrive, we check them for the symptoms. If a passenger shows any indications, he/she is immediately rushed to the designated government hospital for further testing."
The doctors are equipped with a laser gun that enables them to check temperature without touching the passenger. The passengers are asked if they have headache, running nose or even throat problems. If the passenger rules out any such symptoms then he's asked to sign on the provided medical form and he moves further to stamp his passport and collect baggages.
On Wednesday, close to 70 passengers who boarded the flight from Dubai to Pune, were screened at the Lohegaon airport.
