Hyderabad: Even as private carriers are demanding a bailout package from the Union Government, crying foul over the high Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) price and airport charges, GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd., (GHIAL), developer of the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA), on Monday said landing and parking charges levied on air carriers were “quite nominal.” In July, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) hiked the landing and parking charges at all international airports across the country by 10 per cent on both domestic and international carriers. While international carriers have to shell out Rs 227 (below 100 mt) and Rs 306 (above 100 mt), domestic players are charged Rs 170.80 (below 100 mt) and Rs 229 (above 100 mt).
“The landing and parking charges are very nominal even after the 10 per cent increase, as they amount to only 3-4 per cent of a carrier’s operational costs,” said a spokesperson of GHIAL. The fee generated through landing and parking charges constitutes around 7-8 per cent of the overall revenues of GHIAL.
