AI unions warn against wage cut

Eight trade unions in national carrier Air India -- representing its pilots, engineers, ground instructors, officers, radio officers and flight operation officers — have issued what looks like a veiled threat of strike if the airline goes ahead with its plans and unilaterally decides to impose a wage cut.
A letter was sent by the unions on Tuesday evening to the PM's Office, the civil aviation minister's office and the airline's directors and top officials, including chairman and MD Arvind Jadhav. The airline has convened a board meeting on Thursday to discuss issues like productivity-linked incentives and wage cuts.
