Ahmedabad: After the threat of shutting down Jet Airways by Chairman Naresh Goyal, ground staff at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport extended an olive branch to the airline by holding an impromptu interaction with mediapersons on Thursday.
In an emotional appeal to the protesting pilots, a staffer said, "Not just travellers, the ground staff is also under pressure and suffering. The impending situation has put the company and our jobs at stake."
A ground staffer, who is employed on contract basis with Jet Airways, said, "This strike has affected our lives. We don't see any reason for the continuing imbroglio. The survival of our families depends on the well-being of the company. The strike has to be withdrawn." Another aggrieved staffer said, "The future of 13,000 non-pilot employees is at risk. We need to solve the impasse. The pilots have been withdrawing a large chunk of company's revenue in salary, but they are not concerned about us."
