New Delhi: In a bid to enhance revenue earnings, national carrier Air India is planning to overhaul its flight schedule during the coming winter season. It has charted out plans of attracting passengers from several South-East Asian destinations including Bangladesh and Thailand for its long-haul flights to the US by providing connecting flights from those countries to India.
The airline is also rejigging its existing schedule on its domestic routes targeting corporate travellers, a Air India official, who did not wish to be named, told ET.
Air India is also looking at expanding its operation in the US by extending its non-stop flights to Washington from New York besides entering into a code share agreement with US Airways and United Airlines. “We are planning to extend our non-stop Mumbai-New York flight to Washington later this year. There is huge government business on the Washington route from India,” an Air India official said.
Air India has also decided to deploy a brand new aircraft on West-bound flights including Japan to increase passenger occupancy.
