Mumbai: Passengers booked on Air India's domestic flights scheduled for the following couple of weeks need not worry about any disruptions because of a possible pilots' agitation as it has been postponed to the last week of November.
On Monday, the pilots issued a formal strike notice to the airline. So if there would ever be a strike, it would be on or after November 24.
The Indian Commercial Pilots Association (ICPA), the recognised union of pilots of erstwhile Air India, on Monday issued a strike notice to Air India's chairman and managing director Arvind Jadhav, stating that the notice would come into effect if their flying allowances and productivity-linked incentives, which have been pending for the last two months, were not paid by November 10 as promised by the airline.
"The allowances and incentives account for about 65-70% of our salaries and if they are not paid by November 10, then from that day on, the 14-day mandatory notice period for legally calling a strike will start,'' said Capt R S Otaal, ICPA general secretary. It means a possible strike, if it has to happen, would take place only after November 24.
