Patna: Thanks to the poor quality of posters, pamphlets, films and other materials prepared by the tourism deparment and lack of follow up action the ambitious plan to showcase the tourist potential of Bihar has failed to take off.
A couple of years back the Bihar government signed an MoU with Air India to attract international tourists to the state. As reported at the time of signing of MoU the Air India had offered aircraft to various states to showcase their tourist sites through films and posters during the flights while the names of the respective state inscrbed over it.
The state tourism department initially decided in favour of Boeing 747 to inscribe the word ‘Bihar’ over it. New Delhi-New York and New Delhi-Los Angeles flights were to be selected for this purpose.
It was also planned that in-flight brochures and short documentary films on the state would be prepared. This would offer details of each sites.
Besides the audio-visual presentation on Bihar a four page glossy info sheets was planned on the state, its heritage, the facilities available for stay and recreation.
