Trial run at new terminal in Bajpe Airport

Mangalore: A non-scheduled aircraft from Goa with specially invited passengers, became the first aircraft to do the full testing honours at the all-new integrated terminal building at Bajpe Airport in Kenjar on Wednesday.
The first ‘public trial’, conducted under the guidance of Ministry of Civil Aviation and Director-General of Civil Aviation is the final critical step in the direction to test the operational readiness of the new terminal.
The trial run follows close on the heels of aviation safety audit completed at the new terminal a week ago. “The safety audit had found that the new terminal met overall safety requirements and the trial run on Wednesday was a success,” sources disclosed. The trial run tested the realtime parameters such as security, x-ray, check-in, baggage handling among others. However the existing taxi (rented car) facility was not available at the new terminal.
Airport Authority of India (AAI) had made arrangements for disembarking passengers and providing refreshment.
After the trial run for domestic flight, a similar exercise will be carried out for an international flight when immigration facilities are put in place.
