Civil Aviation Minister and Delhi Chief Minister meet to discuss issues connectivity to IGI Airport

A meeting was convened under the Chairmanship of the Minister for Civil Aviation, Shri Praful Patel, which was attended by the Chief Minister of Delhi, Smt. Shiela Dikshit to discuss the issues regarding connectivity to Terminal-3 of the IGI Airport of New Delhi.
The meeting discussed the problem of inconvenience caused because of the entire IGI traffic being serviced by only the Delhi-Gurgaon Highway. The traffic which is around 25 million now is to cross 50 million in the next few years thus there was a need for another exit preferably on the Dwarka side. The Chief Minister and the Civil Aviation Minister have jointly given ‘in-principle’ approval for the construction of a road for exit through the Dwarka side of the Airport.
A high level committee has been set up under the Chairmanship of the Secretary, Ministry of Civil Aviation to look into the technical feasibility, cost sharing, design etc. of the project and firm up the requisite fact figures and options taking all stakeholders on board.
The meeting was attended by the Secretary, Ministry of Civil Aviation, Secretary Ministry of Road Transport & Highways, Chairman, Airports Authority of India (AAI), Chairman, National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), the Chief Secretary, Government of NCT of Delhi, representatives of the Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Urban Development, PWD, Delhi Jal Board, DIAL, DDA and others.
