JetLite to soon incorporate hotel and car rental booking facilities on its portal

Mumbai: In a latest development, JetLite; the wholly owned subsidiary of Jet Airways India Ltd. has commenced operations of its new online booking engine. The portal currently offers air travel bookings and travel insurance services. It is soon going to incorporate hotel and car rental facilities on its portal to provide complete travel booking experience to end consumers. Currently, the airline is evaluating a set of aggregators to provide hotel and car rental database.
Talking about the forthcoming hotel and car rental product on JetLite portal, Belson Coutinho, General Manager – eCommerce and Innovations, Jet Airways said, “We are constantly evaluating various models to enhance the online booking experience for our end users. Through our new booking engine, we have the flexibility and control over the portal, thus we may add new products, services and facilities as per the demand in the market. We are looking at incorporating hotel and car rental inventory on our portal so that the travellers can book their flight, as well as their accommodation at the same platform. We currently offer hotels and chuffer drive products under ‘Plan your Travel’ option on Jet Airways portal, but the target clientele of Jet Airways and JetLite is completely different. Thus, we are looking at new aggregators who can provide budget segment inventory for the JetLite target audience.”
With the global recession looming over the aviation sector, JetLite is working towards adding ancillary revenue generating products under its brand. “After adding and receiving good response for the travel insurance product, we thought of incorporating other ancillary products on our portal. It helps travellers to book essential travel requirements (flight + transfer / transport + accommodation) on a single platform and secondly helps us generate additional income,” added Coutinho.
