Mumbai: Minutes before SpiceJet flight SG-804 from Goa landed in Mumbai on Tuesday and a crew member filed a molestation complaint against three football players on board, the commander of the flight sent out an alarm to keep security cover ready for landing.
As police officials tried to piece together concrete evidence on the molestation case based on charges levelled by a female crew member against three players of Churchill Brothers, they sent out letters to Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) for CCTV footage of the terminal building at the time of the flight’s arrival, and the Mumbai Air Traffic Control (ATC) for records of the conversation between the controller and the pilot.
Preliminary evidence shows that the situation on board SG-804 was getting out of hand, as the pilot had asked for a priority landing. Police officials said that many flights were lined for arrival before the SpiceJet flight from Goa.
“The pilot asked the traffic controller to allow him to land ahead of others. This was reportedly done due to the presence of two unruly passengers on board,’’ a police official said. “The pilot also asked for a message be sent to the security agency on ground and demanded that cover be provided right after the flight lands in Mumbai,’’ he added.
On Tuesday, a cabin crew member had filed a molestation complaint against three players of the Churchill Brothers football club, Odafe Okolie, Ogba Kalu and Arindam Bhattacharya. The trio had allegedly molested the crew member and misbehaved with the senior flight crew as well as the commander. They have since been let off on bail.
