Churchill sponsors threatens to cut ties

Kolkata: The sponsors of Churchill Brothers on Thursday said they would scrap their deal with the reigning I-League champions if molestationallegations against their players were found to be true.
"If Churchill players are found guilty, we will not hesitate to withdraw the sponsorship. If they were proved innocents, we will continue our association," Managing Director of Kunnath Pharmaceuticals TK Abraham said.
He was in Goa to talk to the officials of Churchill Brothers. "We would act depending on the outcome of the case," he said.
"Having come to know about the incident from media, we have come to Goa. We are meeting with Churchill officials today to know their version of what happened," he said.
Churchill Brothers president Joaquim Alemao however ruled out reports that their main sponsor was parting ways.
The reigning I-League inked a record breaking sponsorship deal with Kunnath Pharmaceuticals, manufacturers of Musli Power X-tra, with the lucrative sponsorship amounting to be in excess of Rs 5 crore annually.
