Pilots warn of unrest in AI

Bangalore: An uneasy truce between pilots belonging to the erstwhile Indian Airlines and the Air India (AI) management, which averted a strike in the national carrier last November, appears coming apart. The November 30 conciliatory proceedings resulted in the hammering out of a memorandum of settlement and the strike threat receding.
But two months later the Indian Commercial Pilots Association, which represents around 560 pilots who now fly under the AI flag after the merger of AI and Indian Airlines, has accused the national carrier management of going back on the November assurances.
