Mumbai: Over a hundred current and former employees of Air India (now National Aviation Company of India Ltd) have moved the Bombay High Court, seeking possession of flats lying unused since 1998.
The flats were offered to AI employees in 2004, and 131 employees paid 10 per cent of the sale price in 2006.
But due to a wrangling and lack of co-ordination between AI and CIDCO, the planning authority for Nerul in neighbouring Navi Mumbai, employees are yet to get possession of the flats, alleged their lawyer, senior advocate J P Cama, at a hearing last week.
According to the petition filed by Abhimanyu Bhosale and others, CIDCO leased out a plot of land to AI (erstwhile Air India), in 1992 in Nerul.
In 1995, AI started construction, and by 1998, 25 residential buildings had been built.
The flats were offerred to AI employees, but initially there was no response. The offer was renewed in 2004, and this time around, several applications came.
