AI passengers stranded for over 10 hours

In the latest in a long list of woes for Air India, over 150 passengers of a Chennai-bound Air India Express flight from the city were left stranded on Friday (March 12) due to an alleged failure of the aircraft's air conditioning system last evening.
The flight which was scheduled to take off at 6:30 pm finally took off early morning by 4 am...There were over 150 passengers on board the flight IX-206.
The flight was grounded because of an Air-conditioning failure on board the plane. Passengers were disembarked & brought in to the lobby of the airport where they said they were ill-treated and that there was no apology & no response from the authorities.
The passengers were not provided with any food & beverages and one passenger reportedly got into a scuffle with security officials in the airport where other passengers allege that police beat him up mercilessly.
Meanwhile, Air India has attempted to smooth things over with the harrassed passengers. An AI spokesperson has said, "The flight was initially delayed because of an air-conditioning problem. The aircraft was changed and that had a technical snag. The flight was then scheduled to leave at 2.30 am but the crew's flight duty time limitations were exceeded and so it finally left for Chennai at 4.00 am."
