Mumbai: Vivek Bharadwaj and his girlfriend Natasha Raisi travelled from Goa to Mumbai via IndiGo Airlines on Wednesday, only to discover that all the money that Natasha was carrying (Rs 3,500 plus change) had been pilfered at the airport security check counter by an IndiGo staff member. Natasha’s HDFC debit card was also missing.
Though the robber was caught the same evening, Vivek and Natasha are being asked to retrieve the money from the Vasco Police Station in Goa. A furious Vivek said that it was ridiculous to spend thousands on air tickets to go to Goa and retrieve the stolen money.
Natasha and Vivek boarded IndiGo airline 6E 190 from Vasco airport, Goa at 1.55 pm. Natasha decided to check in her baggage. After reaching the Mumbai domestic airport at 3 pm, Natasha received her baggage and was soon on her way home to Colaba.
On reaching home, she discovered her baggage locks had been broken.
Natasha blocked her debit card and tried to call IndiGo on their helpline number. “The customer officer couldn’t help and gave Natasha the IndiGo Mumbai Consumer Relations office number. Even they didn’t help us.
Later, Lal Singh Bhandari, the IndiGo security in charge officer at Mumbai airport, told me an FIR had been lodged with the Vasco Police Station in Goa,” said Vivek, adding, “Bhandari helped us but said such things happen at the airport.”
