Mumbai: An Air India staffer and three others accused of trying to smuggle over 5kg of hashish to Amsterdam were acquitted by a special narcotics court.
On December 20, 2006, Leandro Pinhero from Brazil and Tatiani Bolomey, who has a French passport, were on their way to Amsterdam via Swiss Airlines. Both couldn’t check in because of extra luggage. An Air India security personnel informed the Air Intelligence Unit officer who allegedly found hashish packets in their bags. Kalpana Kutur, a senior telecom officer with Air India, had allegedly sought to waive off the extra luggage cost. Ellias Herman, owner of an event management company, was the fourth person arrested in the case.
