Ludhiana: On a request from Air India, a joint team of the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Airport Authority of India (AAI) and Air India inspected the Sahnewal Airport on Wednesday.
The aim is to smoothen out the take-off for the much-in-demand New Delhi-Ludhiana flight, which is supposed to start in May. For almost a decade now, the airport has been non-functional. The new flight is expected to give a boost to the industry here.
Director General of AAI Ram Lal, along with senior DGCA officials, is likely to visit the airport on Thursday to conduct the final inspection.
Air India had applied to the Director General of Civil Aviation and Airport Authority of India for approval of this flight.
