State of the art fire fighting equipment inducted in Madurai airport

Madurai: The city airport on Friday inducted three state-of the-art Austrian Rosenbaeur crash fire tenders, each costing Rs 3.8 crore.
Rosenbauer are specialists in fire fighting vehicles in the world. The tenders each have a capacity to store 10000 litres of water, 1,300 litres of foam chemicals and 250 kg of dry CHCM. The fully automatic vehciles has guns mounted on top, powered by a high pressue pump which can spray 5000 litres a minute to a distance of 85 metres.
The equipment is completely automated and computerised.
Similar units are available at Coimbatore, Calicut and Managalore airports. The Tiruchirapalli international airport would receive them next week.
