New Delhi: In a new development in the case against O Ravi, the union home ministry joint secretary who was arrested for allegedly taking a bribe from Daman distillers to help them evade excise tax, an Air India air hostess has been booked by the CBI for amassing wealth way beyond her known sources of income.
The accused, Anu Puri, an officer of deputy manager level, came under the notice of CBI during the agency's probe into the corruption case against Ravi. It is alleged that she acquired disproportionate assets to the tune of Rs 3.62 crore during the period 1982 to February 28, 2010.
The CBI, however, was tight-lipped about Puri's links with Ravi. Sources said that Puri acted as the link between Ravi and six Daman-based distillers whom Ravi allegedly helped evade tax worth over Rs 340 crore.
