Mumbai: The Powai police, who are investigating the murder of Air Traffic Control staffer Ajitha Pai, are likely to file the chargesheet in a fortnight. Pai’s husband Eknath, who is an assistant general manager with the Airports Authority of India, has been booked for murder and remanded in judicial custody.
“Earlier, we had registered a case of accidental death when Eknath had approached us in March saying that his wife died in her sleep. However, after the postmortem report revealed that her body had strangulation marks, we arrested Eknath on March 18. We plan to file the chargesheet against him within the 15 days,” said senior police inspector Ashok Jadhav of the Powai police station.
The police in April had also sought permission from the court to conduct narcoanalysis test on the accused.
