Mohali: The over 771-acre land on which the Greater Mohali Area Development Authority’s (GMADA) first urban estate will come up has been divided into two sectors — 66 East and 82 East.
A major area of Aerocity is outside the sectoral grid approved in Mohali’s master plan. So, new sectors could not be marked in the area.
“Since Aerocity falls on the east of Sectors 66 and 82, we have marked the area as Sector 66 East and 82 East on the pattern of Sector 38 West in Chandigarh, but it would be commonly known as Aerocity,” GMADA Estate Officer (EO) Balbir Singh said.
The Aerocity is located along both sides of the 200-foot-wide road starting from Sector 66-66-A to Chhat village on the Chandigarh-Patiala National Highway-64 — Mohali’s new sectors (from 82 to 125) are marked on the other side of the urban estate.
Singh said Sectors 66 East and 82 East would be further bifurcated into ‘A, B, C and D’ blocks.
The urban estate is coming up in the vicinity of the upcoming international airport in Mohali. Over 771 acres of land spread across Bakarpur, Naraingarh, Kishanpura, Matran, Chachumajra, Chhat and Manauli villages has been acquired for it.
