New Delhi: The newly formed court of inquiry into the Mangalore plane crash, which killed 158 people last month, held its first meeting in the capital on Friday. The inquiry, headed by retired air marshal Bhushan Nilkanth Gokhale, would meet again on Saturday and visit the crash site soon, official sources said.
The court of inquiry, which includes six other officials, is likely to present its report on the Mangalore tragedy by August-end. The Air India Express Boeing 737-800 aircraft had crashed at Mangalore’s Bajpe Airport while attempting to land on May 22.
Meanwhile, Air India announced it has disbursed a total amount of Rs 7.56 crore to 84 families by way of compensation till Friday.
