Manoj Malviya, additional commissioner, Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), was on Wednesday questioned by the CBI in connection with the case of misuse of office registered against him last week.
Malviya, who is stationed in Delhi, was booked by CBI for allegedly staying in five star hotels in Mumbai, the bill for which was allegedly footed by companies from the aviation sector.
CBI sources said they do not intend to arrest him till the investigations in the case are completed.
On Wednesday afternoon, Malviya was summoned to CBI’s Tanna House office in Colaba, where he was questioned by Joint Director Rishi Raj Singh, DIGs Sonali Mishra and Praveen Salunkhe separately.
The questioning went on till late evening and Malviya reportedly furnished some documents in defence.
Sources in CBI said the questioning and verification of information process is likely to continue for next two days during which Malviya has been asked to make himself available.
CBI is likely to summon officials of a private aviation company for questioning in connection with this case.
“We have also written to an NGO where Malviya’s wife works as a fund raiser, to provide us details of donations that came in because of her.
Many of the donors are from the civil aviation sector and we suspect the donations were made due to Malviya’s influence,” sources said.
