Kingfisher Airlines to pay man Rs 15K

Chandigarh: UT consumer forum has told Kingfisher Airlines to pay Rs 15,017 to a Sector-12 resident as compensation and litigation cost. Complainant Shilesh Gupta alleged that on June 5, 2009, he paid Rs 22,832 to Kingfisher Airlines Limited, for four confirmed air tickets from Chandigarh to Mumbai on October 2, 2009, and a return ticket for October 8, 2009.
He alleged on October 1, 2009, he received a pre-recorded computer call on his phone informing him his flight from Chandigarh to Mumbai had been cancelled.
He immediately made a phone call at the office of the respondents and came to know that all flights of Kingfisher Airlines had been cancelled till October 24, 2009. Also, no other alternative arrangements had been made for this journey.
Left with no other option, the complainant purchased air tickets of another airlines by paying Rs 29,849. As such, Gupta ended up paying Rs 7,017 more than the amount he paid to the respondents. Moreover, the information regarding cancellation of the flight from Mumbai to Chandigarh on October 8, 2009, was given to him on October 6, 2009.
