‘Reinstate AI flights from Thiruvananthapuram’

Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Association of Travel Agents on Thursday demanded that Air India should reinstate the withdrawn domestic flight services from Thiruvananthapuram airport immediately since it has resulted in a 50 to 100 percent hike in ticket fares, and a fall in the number of passengers using the airport.
Addressing a news conference here on Thursday, association president KV Muralidharan said such moves would slow down the development of Thiruvananthapuram airport and help private air services. The cancellation of Air India services from the Thiruvananthapuram airport has helped foreign airline services operating from here to reap an additional revenue of Rs 100 crore every season, he said.
Earlier, Air India had about 30 services from Thiruvananthapuram to major international cities with direct check-in facility. The cancellation of this facility has forced Air India passengers to use either Nedumbassery or Chennai airports.
