British team to train CISF airport screeners

Hyderabad: As part of counter-aviation terror collaborative effort, British experts landed in the city on Tuesday to train airport screeners of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) here.
During the four-day training programme, 160 airport screening staff of CISF will be updated about latest screening techniques by British consultants Simon Bolt and Mary Winchester at NISA in Hakimpet. The training programme is a collaborative effort of the Indian and the British governments.
Additional DG (Airport Sector) CISF, M S Bali, said: "Aviation terror is a global phenomenon. As new modes of threats emerge, exchange of knowledge between airport security personnel across the globe is the need of the hour and current training programme is one such effort to upgrade the skill set of CISF screeners through sharing of latest knowledge in the field by UK experts."
After testing the body scanner at the Delhi airport for a few months, CISF officials submitted a detailed report to the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security ( BCAS) and now it was up to the Union government to take a decision on whether to use the technology across the country.
